At Adventure South Guide Service, we also offer access to the over 500,000 acres of land and shallow estuary that comprise the active Mississippi River delta.

Bird Watching and Eco Tours in Louisiana. Where the road ends, you journey begins as you board one of our boats and head out into a place unlike anywhere else in the country. The broad area that makes up the Mississippi River delta south of Venice, Louisiana is home to hundreds of bird species and other wildlife. During spring and summer, birds such as the Great Blue, Little Blue, Tricolored, and Green herons, Great and Snowy egrets, and Ibis are sighted on a regular basis. In addition, many consider this area to be the center of the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron population in southeastern Louisiana. The Osprey is another beautiful and powerful bird which is especially prevalent during the fall, winter, and spring months.

Winter brings in an excess of ducks like Gadwall, Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, Redhead, Canvasback, and Scaup to name a few. Another duck that has become increasingly common in our area since the passage of hurricane Katrina in 2006 is the Black-bellied Whistling Duck. Other common winter birds include American White Pelican, Common Moorhen, American Coot, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, and Belted Kingfisher. So many species of birds reside, pass through, or winter in this area, that it is regarded by many serious birders as one of the premier birding destinations in the country, if not the world. If there is a particular species that you are most interested in sighting, just let us know and we will do our best to put you in the area where you will have your best chance at a sighting.
