July/August 2018

If you want BIG red fish, then July/August is the time for you to come to Venice, LA. In July/August, the big red fish, or bull reds as we call them, get in big schools and feed on the massive amount of bait fish that is found along our coast during these Summer months. It is prime time for catching 20-30+ pound redfish on topwater baits or poppers on the fly rod. The action can be unbelievable and words cannot accurately describe what it is like when the fish get hungry.

April/May/June 2018

April/May/June is the start of our Spring fishing season for redfish and speckled trout here in Venice, La. Temperatures can still be cool, but the cold fronts are getting less and less frequent and each day the average temperature jumps up a little bit. Jackets for the morning boat ride give way to shorts on many days.

December 2017

Like November, December here in Louisiana can be really nice when it comes to spending a day on the water. The cooler temperatures allow us to fish through the mid-day sun without even breaking a sweat and it also makes the fish more likely to be on the feed later in the day than they are in other months.

November 2017

November is a great time to be fishing here in Louisiana. The weather is typically some of the nicest of the year making it a great time to be out on the water. No matter if you like spin fishing or sight fishing with the fly rod, November fishing in Venice, La came be an experience you won’t soon forget.

October 19-21, 2017 – Louisiana Fishing Trip

John Betchel and his friend came down to catch some Louisiana Bull Redfish. It was their first trip down to Plaquemines Parish and thankfully, the redfish did not disappoint. The guys were able to boat lots of big redfish and even got to experience the chaos of double hook-ups on more than one occasion. Come on down and get in on the action yourself. Give me a call at 504-382-2711 to book your trip today.

October 16-18, 2017 – Louisiana Fishing Trip

Chris Pandolfi brought his dad down for a tw0-day Louisiana Fly Fishing trip for redfish. Some of you may know Chris as a musician/member of The Infamous Stringdusters, but I’m here to tell you that his prowess with a fly rod is on par with his musical talents. Unfortunately for us, the conditions were definitely against us for most of the trip. We made the best of it, and were rewarded with a small window of about an hour where Chris and his dad got to see what it can be like when the conditions line up in your favor.

October 5-6, 2017 – Louisiana Fishing Trip

We had Neill O’Connell and his friends down for a Louisiana Fishing trip the last couple of days.  We always do a little combination of spin fishing and fly fishing with this crew, and this year the spin fishing was definitely better than the fly fishing. Clouds and high winds made the fly fishing tough, but it did not bother the spin fishing. Plenty of redfish and speckled trout were caught on the spin boat and the guys had a great time. If you want to set up a spin fishing or fly fishing trip, give us a call at 504-382-2711.

September 2017- Louisiana Fishing Trip Report

September can be a great month for a Louisiana fishing trip or fly fishing trip.  Big Louisiana redfish are plentiful this time of year, and the weather is typically nice.  September is also a good time to get in combination Teal shoot/fishing trip. Our Teal season is typically in mid-September, thus allowing some of the first duck hunting of the year here in the Southeast. Give us a call at 504-382-2711 if you want to chat about your options.

Louisiana Bull Redfish Fishing Guide mel2

The last 3 days I had Richard Mel down from Chicago to do some Louisiana fishing for big Bull Redfish. This was his first time down to fish with me and his goal was to catch some big redfish on topwater lures.  The weather was in our favor and the fish did not disappoint. I lost count of how many redfish the guys caught on topwater lures. If you like catching fish on topwater lures, give us a call to book your Louisiana fishing trip today!
